Google has announced that they’ll be rebranding Android Wear as Wear OS.
According to Google’s blog post, the company has partnered with watch and electronic brand to create more than 50 watches. And last year, that one out of three new Android Wear watch owners are used with an iPhone.
Since introducing Android Wear 2.0 last year, most of the watches functions are done on the watch itself including accessing the Play Store, so there are no real limitations on iPhone.
Google says that the Wear OS name reflects their “technology, vision, and most important of all – the people who wear our watches.”
Over the next few weeks, you should see the Wear OS branding on watches and the app over the next few weeks. You can find out more at the new Wear OS site.
