Amazon announces Undone, a new animated series from the BoJack Horseman team

Amazon Studios has ordered a new half-hour animated series called Undone.

Undone is created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg (creator, writer and executive producer of BoJack Horseman) and Kate Purdy (writer, producer of BoJack Horseman).

Undone is a half-hour animated dramedy that “explores the elastic nature of reality through its central character, Alma (who will be voiced by Rose Salazar).” After Alma gets into a near-fatal car accident, she discovers she has a new relationship with time and uses her new ability to find out the truth about her father’s death. Angelique Cabral will also star in the show as Alma’s younger sister.

The series is produced by Michael Eisner’s Tornante Company along with executive producers, Noel Bright, Steven A. Cohen and Tommy Pallotta, who all worked on BoJack Horseman, as well as Bob-Waksberg and Purdy.

“We’re delighted to greenlight our first animated half-hour series,” said Sharon Yguado, Head of Scripted Series, Amazon Studios. “Kate and Raphael are dynamic and creative forces, and I know they will create an amazing series for us. I can’t wait for our customers to see it in 2019.”

“We are grateful to Amazon Studios for the opportunity to tell Alma’s story and follow her as she seeks to find a deeper meaning to her existence,” said Purdy. Bob-Waksberg added, “Hisko’s beautiful artwork and masterful use of light and color will create a look never seen before on a television show that will make audiences lose their minds.”

Dutch artist, Hisko Hulsing will oversee the production design and a team of animators in the Netherlands. The animation for the series will be done by the Amsterdam-based studio, Submarine and the Austin-based studio, Minnow Mountain.

The series is currently in pre-production with an expected premiere date in 2019 on Prime Video.
