At the Geneva Motor Show, Volkswagen unveiled their latest concept with the I.D. Vizzion.
The vehicle uses the company’s the MEB electric vehicle platform along with voice and gesture control technology and artificial intelligence built into the vehicle’s software.
The I.D. Vizzion is the first Volkswagen vehicle without a steering wheel or pedals, the vehicle will be able to drive autonomously. VW says the “digital chauffer” doesn’t just navigate and steer, it can also recognize passengers and adapt aspects of the vehicle’s interior to their preferences.
The production version of the I.D. Vizzion concept is set to begin production by 2022. The vehicle will be capable of Level 5 full autonomous driving.
The I.D. Vizzion has 302hp with all-wheel drive provided by electric motors. The 111 kWh battery in the I.D. Vizzion is capable of providing a range of up to 300 miles (around 482 km).
The vehicle has a whole host of sensors including, laser scanners, ultrasonic sensors, radar, front and rear cameras with a 360-degree view of the vehicle’s surroundings.
