LG has unveiled their first mobile device in their ThinQ lineup, with the LG V30S ThinQ at MWC 2018.
The LG V30S ThinQ is a upgraded version of the LG V30 that launched last year. The new device comes with a Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB of RAM, a 6-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2880×1440. Since the device has a OLED display, it supports Google Daydream.
The battery in the LG V30S ThinQ is 3,300 mAh and it will come with either 128 or 256GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot. The new phone has dual lens cameras on the back, one 16-megapixel standard angle and a 13-megapixel wide-angle lens. The front-facing camera is a 5-megapixel wide angle lens.
The LG V30S ThinQ will be running Android 8.0 Oreo with LG’s UX 6.0+. It’s also IP68 water and dust resistant, has 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, HDR10 support, Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, fingerprint sensor and face recognition. The LG V30 from last year had 4GB of RAM and only 64GB of storage.
The LG V30S ThinQ has a host of AI technologies, including, Vision AI which brings three camera features, the AI CAM, QLens and Bright Mode.
AI CAM will analyze object that come into view and will recommend the optimal shooting mode ranging from: portrait, food, pet, landscape, city, flowers, sunrise and sunset. The viewing angle, colour, reflections, lighting and saturation are all taken into account.
The QLens is similar to Google Lens, it can scan QR codes and also give your information on products. Image searches with QLens can help you find similar images of food, fashion and celebrities or even more information about buildings or statues.
The Bright Mode on the LG V30S ThinQ, uses AI and algorithms to help brighten photos by a factor of two, so low-light photography should look even better.
The LG V30S ThinQ also comes with Voice AI which is a set of LG-Exclusive voice commands that allow users to change settings and run apps via your voice. Voice AI works alongside the Google Assistant on the device.
The LG V30S ThinQ will be available in two colours, New Moroccan Blue and New Platinum Gray. No word on pricing or availability but the device should be available in the coming months.
