Dell CES 2018 Announcements: Everything you need to know

In addition to the refreshed XPS 13, Dell also updated their XPS 15 2-in-1 and introduced some new products at CES 2018.

Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 (2018)

The Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 is the “world’s most powerful 15-inch 2-in-1”, it’s powered by the 8th Gen Intel Core processor with discrete Radeon RX Vega M graphics. The laptop is made from machined aluminum, carbon fiber and Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

The laptop can be optioned with the InfinityEdge 4K display, so videos looks stunning.

The Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 will be available in Canada in April, pricing is to be announced. In the US, the Dell XPS 2-in-1 will start at $1,299 USD.

Dell Mobile Connect

Dell Mobile Connect allows users to wirelessly connect their smartphones to their Dell PCs. You’ll be able to receive and make calls and send texts as well as get notifications and even fully mirror phones to interact with your favourite apps.

Dell Mobile Connect will be pre-installed on all new Dell PC going forward.

Dell Cinema

Dell has announced a new immersive audio and visual experience through their Dell Cinema feature.

It’s comprised of three parts, the first is CinemaColor which used Windows HD Color to help decode and display HDR content with even more enhanced detail, more vivid hue and overall sharper picture. You’ll be able to watch Netflix in HDR on Dell Cinema supported PCs.

The next part is CinemaSound which uses Waves MaxxAudio to deliver clearer highs and enhanced bass for a “true cinematic audio experience.”

The third part of Dell Cinema is CinemaStream which is a software solution that will optimize online streaming and interactive video for less buffering, more bandwidth and higher resolution.

Alienware Command Center

Dell’s Alienware brand announced a new piece of software that has been built from the ground up. It allows users to be able to control both system settings, content and other functions in a simple and elegant interface.

This will help gamers off all levels of experience to optimize their PCs to meet their gaming needs.

Alienware is also teaming up with Nvidia and Oculus to create a new category of eSports that combines virtual reality with physical and mental competitive gaming.

Dell Inspiron Gaming Desktop

Dell is also offering a new VR-ready PC with the Inspiron Gaming Desktop. It starts at $799 USD, it’s being powered by the 8th Gen Intel Core processors with up to six cores.

Dell will also be selling the HTC Vive in the coming months from their online store.

Dell Monitors

Dell also showed off two new monitors with the Dell 27 Ultrathin Monitor (S2719DM) and the Dell 24 Ultrathin Monitor (S2419HM). Both support HDR-content playback via Dell Cinema.

The monitors are only 5.5mm at it’s thinnest and have a peak brightness of 600 nits. Both will be available on January 30th, no Canadian pricing was announced. The 24-inch will start at $299 USD and the 27-inch at $499 USD.
