The iconic animated series is being rebooted. Hulu, Amblin Television and Warner Bros. Animation announced that an all-new version of Animaniacs would be coming to the streaming service with a two season straight-to-series order.
Sam Register, president of Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series along with Amblin Television co-presidents Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank will executive produce the series. Steven Spielberg, who was the executive producer on the original series, will also be returning for the new series.
The original Animaniacs ran for 99 episodes was about “the Warner brothers, Yakko and Wakko, and the Warner sister, Dot — three inseparable, irascible siblings — have a great time wreaking havoc and mayhem in the lives of everyone they meet.” Pinky and the Brain will also be making appearances on each episode of the new series.
“I am so pleased and proud that Animaniacs will have a home at Hulu,” said Executive Producer Steven Spielberg. “Together with Warner Bros., we look to bring new audiences and longtime fans into this wild world of Yakko, Wakko, and Dot. I am also excited that the full library of Animaniacs and Tiny Toon Adventures episodes are included in the deal.”
As part of the new deal, the original Animaniacs series and Tiny Toon Adventures will be coming to Hulu.
No word on what platforms the new Animaniacs will be available on in Canada, especially since Hulu isn’t available in Canada.
