Amazon Prime Video app now available on Apple TV

Apple and Amazon have just announced the Prime Video app is now officially available for Apple TV in over 100 countries including Canada and the US.

Apple made the announcement that Amazon would be bringing a Prime Video app to Apple TV, back at WWDC in June.

“Amazon Prime Video is one of the most eagerly anticipated apps to come to Apple TV, so we’re excited to bring all of that great content to customers,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services. “The Sports tab in the Apple TV app makes it even easier for fans in the US to track the teams, games and moments that are important to them. With these exciting updates, plus our growing collection of 4K HDR movies on iTunes, we continue to deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience to Apple customers.”

The Prime Video app for Apple TV has integration with Apple’s TV app which is available on iOS and Apple TV. You can also use the Siri remote to search for content on Prime Video such as The Big Sick, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Tick and the upcoming second season of The Grand Tour, which premieres on December 8th.

“There is nothing that excites us more than delighting our customers, and we are thrilled for them to stream Prime Video on Apple TV,” said Mark Eamer, Vice President of Prime Video. “The app arrives just in time for the highly anticipated new season of The Grand Tour, which launches on December 8thand Prime Video customers streaming on the Apple TV 4K will have the exceptional viewing experience of 4K UHD HDR.”

The Prime Video app is available on the Apple TV 4K (which released earlier this year),  Apple TV 4th Gen (which came out in 2015) and Apple TV 3rd Gen.
