ecobee has announced that they’ve added integration with the Google Assistant for users in Canada and the US to control all their ecobee smart thermostats.

The Google Assistant on compatible Android phones, iPhones or speakers such as Google Home can control the ecobee3, ecobee3 lite and the ecobee 4. With the Google Assistant integration, you’ll be able to say things like, “Ok Google, make my home warmer.”

“It’s our priority to partner with best-in-class smart home platforms to offer ecobee customers the greatest freedom and flexibility on the market. The Google Assistant is no exception,” said Stuart Lombard, ecobee president, and CEO. “The addition of the Google Assistant – and with it, devices like Google Home – reflects our commitment to customer-led innovation and our expectation for continued growth of the voice-enabled smart home.”

ecobee has previously added support for Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, SmartThings, Wink, and IFTTT.

“We’re excited to work with ecobee to offer Google Assistant users, even more, choice in managing and controlling their home environments,” said Mark Spates, Google Product Manager. “Today’s announcement continues our commitment to offer Google Assistant users some of the most innovative smart home technology on the market. The Google Assistant already works with more than 1,000 smart devices from 150-plus popular brands, and we can’t wait to add another great option.”

As mentioned earlier, Google Assistant integration works with the ecobee4, which was announced earlier this year, and is available in the US for $249 USD and Canada for $329 CAD. You can buy the ecobee4 in the US at Home Depot, Lowes, Best Buy, Amazon, and ecobee.com and in Canada at Amazon.ca, Lowes, Home Depot and ecobee’s website.

Canadians meanwhile, can either purchase the ecobee3 for $299 CAD or the ecobee3 lite for $219 CAD ($169 USD). All three models support up to 32 of ecobee’s room sensors.

If you’re looking to pick up an ecobee, I would suggest waiting until Black Friday where you’ll be able to get some extra room sensors as a free bonus (which cost $89 CAD for a pack of 2).

Update – November 15th, 2017: The ecobee4 is now available in Canada and will also be compatible with the Google Assistant. This post has been updated to reflect that.
