Back at MWC 2017, Motorola teased some new Moto Mods that would be coming this year, one of which was a speaker mod with Amazon Alexa built-in. Now thanks to Evan Blass, we have images of the Alexa Moto Mod along with a Polaroid printer mod.
The Amazon Alexa speaker Mod looks similar to the JBL SoundBoost 2 Mod (minus the kickstand) and possibly has some built-in microphones. Just like previous Moto Mods, the Alexa speaker will attach to the back of any device in the Moto Z family.
The Polaroid Insta-Share Printer Mod will allow you to print off photos taken with your Moto Z device. The printer Moto Mod is said to use the Zink printing technology (i.e. zero ink), similar to the HP Sprocket mobile printer.
The new Moto Mods are said to be released in the next couple of weeks, just in time for the holiday season.
Update – October 18th, 2017: The Alexa speaker Moto Mod now official. Motorola has introduced the Moto Smart Speaker with Amazon Alexa. You’ll be able to ask Alexa via the speaker all things you would ask with an Amazon Echo, like changing the thermostat temperature, controlling your smart lights etc.
The Moto Smart Speaker will add up to 15 hours of battery life to your device. Unlike other Moto Mods, the Smart Speaker Mod does cover up the camera on your Moto Z so you won’t be able to use the camera while the Mod is attached.
The Moto Smart Speaker with Amazon Alexa will be available in November for $149 USD in markets where Amazon Alexa is available.
