Microsoft has introduced their most powerful Surface Book ever, with the new Surface Book 2.

The Surface Book 2 can be configured with an 8th Gen Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, 8 or 16GB of RAM and 256, 512 or 1TB of storage.

The Surface Book 2 comes in two screen sizes, 13.5-inch and 15-inch. As of right now, the 15-inch Surface Book 2 is US-only, no word on if/when it will come to Canada. The Intel Core i7 version of the 13.5-inch Surface Book 2 has Nvidia GTX 1050 discrete graphics while the 15-inch Surface Book 2 has an i7 and a Nvidia GTX 1060.

As for ports, the Surface Book 2 has two USB Type-A ports, one USB Type-C port (with no Thunderbolt support), a full-size SD card reader, headphone jack, two Surface Connect ports (one in the tablet and one in the keyboard base).

The 15-inch Surface Book 2 does come with Xbox Wireless built-in, so you can easily connect your Xbox One controller with no additional adapter. The 13.5-inch Surface Book 2 sadly does not have Xbox Wireless.

The device also comes with stereo speakers with Dolby Audio Premium, Windows Sonic for headphones and Dolby Atmos for headphones. The Surface Book 2 has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera. It also comes with an IR camera for Windows Hello.

You can expect up to 17 hours of battery life on all models of the Surface Book 2. The device is also compatible with Windows Mixed Reality headsets, which launch today.
