It seems like everything in the tech world these days leaks out, and GoPro’s next camera is the latest device to leak.
According to a tipster who send photos to The Verge of the retail box for the soon to be announced GoPro Hero6 Black. The photos were taken at a Best Buy location in Ottawa.
One of the big new features of the Hero 6 Black is that 4K video can now be shot at 60 frames per second. The new camera can also shoot slow-motion video at 1080p at up to 240 fps, which is about 10 times slower than real time.
On first glance, the Hero6 Black looks visually similar to the Hero5 Black from last year, it could mean that most of what was changed, was the camera’s internals.
The Hero6 Black is said to retail for $649 CAD (or $499 USD), the current Hero5 Black retails for $549 CAD and the Hero5 Session goes for $399 CAD.
GoPro is said to announce the Hero6 Black along with their 360 camera, the Fusion on or around September 28th. We’ll just have to wait and see for now.
The Verge also said that GoPro is looking to drop their current processor supplier, Ambarella and instead create their own custom processor. This should help GoPro be able to get better photo and video quality and improved battery life.
