Good news, everyone! The cast and creators of Futurama have teamed up with TinyCo and Chris Hardwick to brings fans a new episode of the show in the form of a radio play, called Radiorama.

The radio play will debut as an episode of The Nerdist Podcast (in its entirety) on September 14th. You’ll be able to unlock bonus content in the Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow mobile game.

The podcast episode will reunite your favourite characters from the show including, Fry, Bender, Leela, Professor Farnsworth, Zoidberg, Amy and Hermes as they try to stop the evil Klaxxon (voiced by Chris Hardwick), who is a creature made up of soundwaves from podcasts from the 21st century. The Planet Express crew will meet Klaxxon while on a mission to the delete file planet known as Junkleon 7.

USA Today has an exclusive preview of the upcoming episode, which you can listen to below.

“Last year I cornered two fine gentlemen–Matt Groening & David X. Cohen–and pitched the idea of doing a new Futurama episode as a podcast/radio play because it’s one of my favorite things and I need more of it,” said Nerdist‘s Chris Hardwick. “Today I am drooling with unfiltered joy to say that a) it’s actually happening, b) I got to voice the villain (Klaxxon), and c) I’m a freaking head in a jar in Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow, a game I’ve been feverishly playing since it came out. Galaxies of thanks to Matt, David and TinyCo for acquiescing to the maniacal ravings of a well-meaning fanboy.”

It’s been about 4 years since Futurama aired its finale and this new radioplay should be fun for all Futurama fans (myself included).
