Starting today, YouTube is rolling out a new design, which brings a much cleaner design, a dark mode and more.
YouTube first introduce the new design last year but went into open beta a few months ago. YouTube’s new design uses Google’s Material Design principles and overall the new design looks much nicer and cleaner.
On the mobile app, you’ll see the same white background with black and red accents throughout. There are also gestures in the mobile app that allow you to double tap either the left or right side of the screen to fast forward or reward 10 seconds.
You’ll also be able to choose video playback speed on mobile and soon the app will seamlessly change shape to match the video format you’re watching. So if you’re watching a video that was filmed vertically, you’ll be able to watch it without black bars on the side.
YouTube has also introduced a refreshed logo, which moves the red icon from behind the word Tube to a red play button next to the wordmark.
