HTC has announced that they’re dropping the price of their Vive headset by $200, making $799 CAD ($599 USD), down from $1,149 CAD ($799 USD).

This is likely in order to better compete with the Oculus Rift which also just recently dropped its price to $549 CAD ($399 USD).

Each purchase of a Vive headset comes two base stations and two motion controllers along with a one-month free trial to their Viveport subscription, which allows users play up to five VR titles each month, you also get Google’s Tilt Brush app.

“We know price is just one component of a purchase decision, but when you line up all that Vive offers, we’re building a complete VR ecosystem that customers can rely on today and for years to come,” HTC said in a statement.

The HTC Vive is available from Amazon.ca, Microsoft Store and directly from HTC’s site.
