After a few weeks delay, Andy Rubin’s Essential Phone is now available for pre-order through Telus for $1,050 CAD outright.
The phone is available for as low as $290 CAD on two-year Premium Plus plan. You can also get the phone for $490 CAD with plans starting at $85 per month.
The Essential PH-1 is available in two colours, Black Moon and Pure White. The phone has a 5.71-inch bezel-less Full Display with an aspect ratio of 19:10 and a resolution of 2560 x 1312. It’s being powered by the Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB of RAM and has a 128GB of internal storage.
As for cameras, the device has a dual-lens setup on the back, one 13-megapixel RGB + Mono camera and a 13-megapixel True Monochrome lens.
The phone’s body is made from a mix of titanium and ceramic, which Essential says makes the device more durable.
The Essential is available unlocked at $699 USD from the company’s website but they currently only ship to the US, so Telus is your only option for Canadians. However, Telus says the device will be unlocked, so technically non-Telus customers can purchase the device outright.
Essential’s 360 Camera Mod for the PH-1 is also available for an extra $100 CAD when bought with the phone (or $270 CAD separately) and can capture 4K 360-video.
You can pre-order the Essential Phone from Telus’s site.
