We’re only about a week away from Samsung’s Galaxy Note8 Unpacked event but it seems that the Note8 isn’t the only thing the company is set to unveil.
According to Evan Blass of Venture Beat, Samsung will also reveal the Gear Fit2 Pro which will be the company’s third fitness tracker. The Fit2 Pro will be running Samsung’s Tizen, be water resistant up to 5 ATM which will allow the wearable to be fully submerged in water while swimming.
Last year’s Gear Fit2 was IP68 water resistant and could only handle splashes of water. The Gear Fit2 Pro will include support for offline Spotify playback, connect to Speed On app to track your swims and have a built-in GPS.
The design and shape of the Fit2 Pro will look similar to previous models, with a narrow AMOLED display and thin strap. And judging by the photos obtained by Venture Beat, the Fit2 Pro will be available with either a black or black/red strap.
The clasp on the Fit2 Pro will be more of a watch-style clasp so it will stay on your wrist, even with the most intense workouts. It’s unclear if the Gear Fit2 Pro will be a replacement for or be sold alongside the standard Gear Fit2. If you want to know what I thought of the Gear Fit2, my review.
No pricing or availability were obtained by Venture Beat.
