After nearly two years, Google has introduced an updated version of Glass, but this time for the enterprise market.
Alphabet’s experimental X division has been testing the new Google Glass as part of a limited program for the past two years but now they’ve opened it up to more businesses.
Some example of businesses that are currently using Glass, include GE Aviation with software made by Upskill which will display instructions and helpful information during airplane assembly and maintenance. With the new Google Glass, GE’s mechanics are able to keep working with videos, animation and images staying in their line of sight. This has improved GE’s mechanics’ efficiency by 8-12%.
The Glass team has been working with more than 50 companies, including AGCO, DHL, Dignity Health, NSF International, Sutter Health, The Boeing Company and Volkswagen. The team says that those who have been using Glass, have been able to complete their work faster and easier than before.
With the new Google Glass Enterprise Edition, the team wants to bring what they’ve learned to help other businesses thrive. The new Enterprise Edition also brings increased power and battery life.
If you’re a business who is interested in the new Google Glass, the team is taking requests via the Glass site. You can read up more about what the Glass team has been up to for the past two years at the source link below.
