Motorola has announced that the Z2 Play will be coming to Canada starting July 5th.
Update – July 5th: The Moto Z2 Play is now available in Canada. You can read our review here.
The phone will be available from Bell, Bell MTS, Freedom Mobile (with support for their Band 66 LTE) and SaskTel for $800 CAD off-contract, no word what the price will be for on-contract but it should be around $300-400 CAD.
And if you buy a Z2 Play at launch, you’ll get the new JBL SoundBoost 2 Moto Mod (valued at $114.99 CAD) for free.
The Z2 Play is thinner and lighter than the original Z Play from last year. It hs a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display and is being powered by the Snapdragon 626 processor with 3GB of RAM (some version will come with 4GB of RAM). It will come with either 32 or 64GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot for up to 2TB.
The phone is running Android 7.1 with Motorola’s software enhancements like Moto Display and Moto Voice. You’ll find a 3,000 mAh battery which is down from the 3,510 mAh battery in the original Z Play, but you can expect about 30 hours of battery life.
There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port with support for Motorola’s TurboPower. The fingerprint sensor has been improved and the Z2 Play retains support for Moto Mods and the device has a water-repellent coating.
The rear-facing camera is 12-megapixels and is capable of taking 4K video at 30fps, 1080p video and slow-motion video at 720p (120fps). The front camera is 5-megapixels.
The Moto TurboPower Pack the Moto GamePad Mods will be coming this summer as well and both will retail for $99.99 CAD.
