Motorola has introduced the all-new Z2 Play along with some new Moto Mods.
Moto Z2 Play
The new Z2 Play is a lot thinner and lighter and faster than the original from last year. It has a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display and is being powered by the Snapdragon 626 processor with 3GB of RAM. It will come with either 32 or 64GB of storage and a microSD card slot for up to 2TB.
The device is running Android 7.1.1 and still comes with Moto’s software like Moto Display, Voice and Actions. It has a 3,000mAh battery (which is smaller than last year’s Z Play which has a 3,510mAh battery), which should get you about 30 hours of battery life (down from 50 hours on the original Z Play) and there’s also a USB Type-C port with support Moto’s TurboPower and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The fingerprint sensor on the Z2 Play has been improved and looks more like the one on the Moto G5. The Z2 Play also retains support for Moto Mods and there was some new ones that were announced. There’s also a water-repellent coating.
The rear-facing camera is 12-megapixels and is capable of taking 4K video at 30fps, 1080p video and slow-motion video at 720p (120fps). The front camera is 5-megapixels.
The Moto Z2 Play will work on most Canadian carriers including support for Freedom Mobile’s Band 66 LTE. No word on Canadian pricing or carrier availability for the Z2 Play but it is coming this summer. The Z2 Play will be available in four colours (but in Canada, we’ll most likely get one colour option), Lunar Gray, Fine Gold, Nimbus Blue, Super Black.
In addition to the Z2 Play, Motorola has introduced new Moto Mods since first introducing them along with the initial Moto Z family.

The Moto TurboPower Pack can add about an extra day of battery life to your device. It can also recharge your phone fast (up to 15W) while you’re on the go. The pack takes about 20 minutes to fill up 50% and will retail for $79.99 USD.
The last new Moto Mod is the Moto Style Shell with Wireless Charging. You can instantly add wireless charging capabilities to your Moto Z with this ultra-sleek and stylish Style Shell. It will be available in a variety of finishes and will retail for $39.99 USD.
