Rockstar Games has announced that their upcoming game, Red Dead Redemption 2, has been delayed and will release in Spring 2018.
The game was originally planned for a Fall 2017 release but Rockstar tends to take their time with their games and having played past Rockstar games, it will be well worth the wait. Since Rockstar said Spring 2018, that could mean the game could release anywhere between March and May, it could release in May to partly coincide with the 8th anniversary of the first Red Dead Redemption, but that’s just my guess.
Rockstar said in a post on their Newswire blog, “This outlaw epic set across the vast and unforgiving American heartland will be the first Rockstar game created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware, and some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans.”
To help make up for the delay, Rockstar Games said that they will be releasing more details about the game this summer (we might hear something as early as E3 2017, next month), as well as some new screenshots.
Judging by the screenshots, the game is going to be beautiful (just like the first Red Dead Redemption, which game out 7 years ago), when it launches on Xbox One and PS4 in Spring 2018.
Update: According to Take-Two Interactive’s latest quarterly report, it says that Red Dead Redemption 2 will release in Take-Two’s fiscal year 2019, which is from April 1st 2018 to March 31st 2019.
So that sort of narrows it down to when the game will release, it could have an April release or a May release (as mentioned earlier in this post).
