Harman Kardon’s Invoke speaker is their Cortana-powered answer to the Amazon Echo

Harman Kardon has announced their own smart assistant speaker, with the Invoke and it’s being powered by Microsoft’s Cortana.

The Invoke speaker offers 360-degree speakers, control smart home devices, play music and make/receive Skype calls to cell phones, landlines and Skype-enabled devices. For speakers in the device, it’s composed of three woofers, three tweeters and 2 passive radiators.

The speaker has a similar design to the Amazon Echo with a light ring and seven microphone array using Harmon Kardon’s Sonique far-field voice recognition technology. The speaker is a bit shorter and has a cone-line design, as it gets smaller near the top of the device. It’s made from aluminium, so expect to pay a premium price for this.

The Invoke marks Microsoft’s first attempt of expanding Cortana beyond smartphones and PCs. The Invoke will be available in two colours, Pearl Silver (White) and Graphite (Black) and will be available this fall in the US at select retailers and Microsoft Stores.
