Netflix is rumored to be working on a way to give its viewers a way to control key plot decisions for some of their shows, according to The Daily Mail. It won’t be anything too complex but an example could enable users to make choices that would slightly alter the story like whether or not an inmate in Orange Is The New Black joins a prison gang.

This technology could help create ‘infinite’ drama  and complex storylines on Netflix’s shows, and viewers can choose different plots using their TV remotes.

An unknown source told The Daily Mail, “We’re doing work on branch narratives so you are actually making choices as you watch. All the content will be there, and then people will have to get through it in different ways.”

They also added, “We’ll see how it plays out. It’s an experiment. We’ll see if it gets much success. For creators, it’s new territory.”

Actors of Netflix’s shows with the interactivity feature, would film a number of alternate scene that follow a different plot and allow users to choose which route to take.

“It is almost random – you could go through a story in incredibly weird ways,’ the unknown source said. “I can’t imagine what the story will be like but it’s highly fragmented.”

Netflix is said to test out this feature in a trial run with choose-your-own-adventure shows for children later this year. And if they prove to be successful, we could see the same feature for shows that are aimed at adults. At this moment, it’s unclear if this feature will make it to current Netflix TV series or be used for newer ones.
