Microsoft has announced a new subscription service called Xbox Game Pass. The new service will offer gamers over 100 Xbox One and Xbox 360 backwards compatible titles.

For $9.99 USD ($11.99 CAD) per month, Xbox One players can choose from a list of games (which will have more titles added each month) and download the game to their console and play for however long their subscription lasts.

Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer said that a few games such a Halo 5: Guardians, Payday 2, NBA 2K16 and SoulCalibur II will be coming to the service. Players who subscribe to the service will also get discounts on add-ons for the games included in the service.

When some new titles come in, some will be cycling off the service (which is similar to how Netflix operates due to licensing agreements).

Players can expect games from such publishers as 2K, 505 Games, BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment, Capcom, Codemasters, Deep Silver, Focus Home Interactive, SEGA, SNK CORPORATION, THQ Nordic GmbH, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Microsoft Studios.

The Xbox Game Pass will be available for users in the Xbox Insider Program starting today, there will be able 20 titles to test out. The service will officially launch for all, later this spring but Microsoft didn’t specify which countries the service will be available in.

A rep for Xbox Canada said,

Xbox Game Pass will launch in 30 markets and we’ll be actively working to expand availability to additional regions. It costs $11.99 CAD a month.
