Disney and Lucasfilm have officially revealed the title for Episode VIII, it will be called Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Spoiler Alert: Caution there will be spoilers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens in this post.
The new film is written and directed by Rian Johnson, who previously directed Looper. Episode VIII will literally continue where The Force Awakens ended with Rey finding Luke Skywalker and silently offering his old lightsaber. The new film’s title may be referring to Luke as the last Jedi.
But I bet some portion of The Last Jedi will have Luke teaching Rey the art of the Force because she is Force-sensitive and was able to face off against Kylo Ren. Or who really knows what the title is implying because the term Jedi can be used as a singular term or to refer to a group (in the same way the plural and singular for moose stays the same).

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will release on December 15th 2017.
