After a number of leaks, Ubisoft have officially Watch Dogs 2 during their livestream. During the stream, Ubisoft showed a few different trailers for the game. You can find the announcement trailer (which is about 20 mins long) below:

Watch Dogs 2 will be taking place in Ubisoft’s fictional take on the San Francisco Bay Area. It’s not the first time that Ubisoft has created a game set in San Francisco, there was 2011’s Driver: San Francisco before Watch Dogs 2.

Players will take control of Marcus Holloway, who is a young hacker from Oakland, who was incorrectly profiled by ctOS 2.0. He is also a member of Dedsec, the hacker group that had a large role in the first Watch Dogs.

Here’s a trailer about the game’s protagonist

Ubisoft is promising players more toys and the ability to literally hack everyone in the city and every mechanical or electronic thing in between. It could be a phone from a nearby pedestrian, parked vehicles and even forklifts and cranes that can be moved to reach a previously inaccessible area.

They also say that Marcus can also remotely take direct control of other vehicles as if he were driving them, which in immediate terms is handy for creating distractions, making roadblocks for enemies, and indulging in a little recreational mayhem.

Marcus is much more agile that Aiden Pearce from the first game, he’s able to parkour over objects just like in Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series.

When first Watch Dogs released in 2014, the game didn’t live up to the promised expectations of Ubisoft’s initial vision. Hopefully, the sequel will more closely mirror Ubisoft’s original vision for the first game and we could see a huge quality game between the two games, in a similar way to how Assassin’s Creed II was much better than the first Assassin’s Creed.
