Google Earth was first introduced to the earth (get it?), 10 years ago today (June 29th). It gave people the ability to “fly anywhere in the world.”

This is how Google Earth originally looked (on the Mac)

Google is celebrating Google Earth’s birthday with a new discovery feature. It’s called “Voyager” and it’s only on the desktop version of Google Earth right now. It will show you the best things available in Google Earth.

With the new Voyager features, you’ll be able to get quick access to different types of highlighted content. There is Street View, Earth View, 3D cities, the latest satellite images and a highlight tour.

Google has also expanded the number of Earth View images to over 1500. There are a collection of the best landscapes as viewed from space. You can find these by going to the Earth View web gallery or by installing the Chrome extension.

Here’s to many more years of Google Earth.
