Bethesda’s E3 Showcase: Everything you need to know

In the 20 year history of E3 (and this year marks the 20th), Bethesda has never held a press conference, until this year. They called it the Bethesda E3 Showcase.

In case you missed Bethesda’s E3 showcase, the entire thing is now on YouTube:

Bethesda has some pretty exciting announcements to make and some cool demos to show off.

DOOM (2016)

This game was originally known as DOOM 4 but it now known as just DOOM. It is a reboot for the DOOM series of games.

The new game brings stunning visuals for all the demons in the game, a fast multiplayer component, DOOM SnapMap and all of this is running on the id Tech 6 engine (it’s also known as the id Tech 666 engine because the game takes place in … you know … hell for the most part).

DOOM SnapMap will allow players to create new maps for multiplayer. They can range from co-op multiplayer maps to a 4-player death-match. You’ll be able to play these player-made maps with your friends or with other players from around the world.

DOOM will be arriving in Spring 2016 and will be available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Bethesda.net

This may not have been as big of an announcement as some of the other but to Bethesda is kind-of was.

Bethesda.net is going to become the new home for all things Bethesda. Of course this includes their games as well. You can expect to see exclusive content, revamped forums and powerful tools fro sharing game stats and other content.

Dishonored 2 & Dishonored Definitive Edition

Arkane Studios made two announcements during Bethesda’s E3 Showcase.

The first was a follow-up to 2012’s Dishonored. It’s simply called, Dishonored 2.

Caution the description for Dishonored 2 may reveal minor spoilers for the first game.

Dishonored 2 is set 15 years after the first game. Lord Regent has been vanquished and the Rat Plague is gone. The throne has been taken over by Emily Kaldwin, which leaves the fate of the Isle in better hands.

You can now play as either as Emily Kaldwin or Corvo Attano and you’ll travel from the streets of Dunwall (which was in the first game) to the new setting for the game, Karnaca.

Karanca was once a dazzling coastal city that holds the key to help bring Emily to power. You’ll be armed with the mark of the Outsider and have powerful new ability to use against your enemies.

Dishonored 2 will be released on Xbox One, PS4 and PC in Spring 2016.

The second was Dishonored Definitive Edition. This will let players experience the first game on their Xbox One and PS4. It will include the original game that has been updated with enhanced graphics along with the pieces of DLC, Dunwall City Trials, The Knife of Dunwall, The Brightmore Witches and Void Walker’s Arsenal.

Dishonored Definitive Edition will arrive sometime this fall.

The Elder Scrolls: Legends

The Elder Scrolls: Legends is a free-to-play strategy card game that take place in the world of Tamerial. Think of this as the Elder Scrolls version of Hearthstone.

The Elder Scrolls: Legends will be available on iPad and PC later this year.

BATTLECRY

BATTLECRY is a multiplayer action combat game. It is being developed by BattleCry Studios. The game will be free-to-play and there will be a global beta starting this fall. You can sign-up now and you’ll get priority beta access when the beta starts.

Upcoming content for The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamerial Unlimited

The game just recently came out for Xbox One and PS4, so at Bethesda’s E3 Showcase, ZeniMax Online showed off what players can expect  next for the game in terms of content.

Fallout Shelter

Fallout Shelter is a free-to-play game or the iPhone and iPad (Android is coming at a later unspecified date).

The game allows you to control a state-of-the-art underground Vault from Vault-Tec. You can build the perfect Vault to keep your Dwellers happy and protect them from the dangers of the wasteland.

As Todd Howard said on stage, the game is absolutely free, no internet connection required or needed and there is no waiting for parts of your Vault to be built, it will build instantly. Even though it may have in-app purchases, they are optional and you can play the game with paying a dime.

It is available now, (yes, right now) for iOS. It requires iOS 7 and later and it’s compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, and is is optimized for iPhone 5, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus. It will also need 200 MB of space.

Fallout 4

At Bethesda’s E3 Showcase, Todd Howard, the creative director on Fallout 4 (among other things) showed some in-game footage of Fallout 4.

There is a new character creation system that gets rid of sliders and allows you to just a pick a part of the body to manipulate in any shape and form. You can make your character look just like you or a famous person, you can do that with Fallout 4’s character creator.

You’ll also be able to choose between a man or a woman. Also, as part of the characters in the story, how ever you customized your character and your spouse, a baby will be created that takes the genes from each parent.  You’ll also be able to name your baby too.

Bethesda has also recorded hundreds the most common names (both male and female) so then your character won’t be referred to just “hey you”.

In addition to that, the dialogue int he game is more dynamic so if you just end a conversation with another character in the game, you could just simply walk away or follow them to continue the story. Trust me, it seems better int he Fallout 4 demo.

There is so much more that could be said about Fallout 4 but the E3 demo they game will have to suffice until November 10th 2015.

f4_Date-1

There will also be a Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition of the game. It came with the game and an actual replica Pip-Boy that can support a wide-variety of smartphones. Along with the Fallout 4 companion app, you can manage all you in-game Pip-Boy menu functions right from your wrist. The Pip-Boy menu in the Fallout 4 companion app will work with or without the Pip-Boy replica (but who doesn’t want one of those replicas).  The app will work on any of the platforms that Fallout 4 is on.

The Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition will be available in limited quantities for $119.99 US and available for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC alongside the standard version of the game.
