Pebble announced there latest smartwatch called the Pebble Time. It features an all new design the is 20% thinner than the original Pebble.
This new smartwatch has colour display, has 5-7 days of battery life and is compatible with the 6,500 apps and watchfaces available already. The Pebble Time is still water resistance and customizable.
The Pebble Time will be compatible with iOS 8 running on the iPhone 4S or later. And works with any Android phone running 4.0+ including Samsung, HTC, Sony, LG, Google, Motorola, Xiaomi and many more.
It also features a new interface, which Pebble is calling the timeline interface.
Essentially it will show you contextual information, like calendar appointments, alarms and apps and they will show up as they become more relevant. It seems like Pebble’s version of Google Now.
The Pebble Time will get the timeline interface first and it will come to the Original Pebble and the Pebble Steel at a later date (which they didn’t announce yet).
There currently is a Kickstarter campaign for the Pebble Time. The early bird price was $159 but all are sold out as of writing this post. The next tier up is getting the Pebble Time for $179 in any of the three colours.
The Pebble Time will retail for $199 in May 2015, which is also when backers will get theirs.
As of writing this post, the campaign has $6 million, when they only asked for $500,000. Over 29,000 people have backed the campaign so far.
There is still 31 days to go in the campaign and only 5000 more people can buy the Pebble Time for the slightly discounted price of $179.
